Tiny Turrets is a purpose-built provision that provides childcare for children from two to four years of age. It is part of the Foundation Stage Unit within our school and opened in September 2013. The unit consists of a nursery and a reception class which are linked with double doors.
We welcome children from local villages including Stoke sub Hamdon, Montacute, Odcombe, Norton sub Hamdon as well as from a wider geographical area. We work closely with all local schools to provide a smooth transition when the children move on to their reception year. For children who choose to remain at Castle Primary School, the transition is seamless, as the children already know the staff and the setting.
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS), supporting learning through play and building confidence and independence ready for the move into school.
Activities are planned around the individual child, acknowledging their interests, how they play and supporting their progress in all developmental areas. There is plenty of role-play, arts & crafts, sand, water, storytelling, singing, books, messy play, climbing, running and much more. We enjoy the seasons in our lovely outdoor area with a strong emphasis on outdoor play.
Our aim is for children to be happy and relaxed and for parents to be confident that our setting is a safe, caring and stimulating environment.
Each day consists of two three-hour sessions.
9am – 12pm: Three-hour session (session 1)
12pm – 3pm: Three-hour session (session 2)
If you would like to come and find out more or apply for a place, then please ring the nursery (01935 826739) and arrange a visit. We hold a waiting list for prospective parents and will always aim to be as flexible as possible to meet your needs and those of your child.
